Title: Defensive Driving Course
Duration: 2 Days

This course was delivered for the first time to U.K. government law enforcement agents in 2007 in Northern Ireland. It has since enjoyed successful international delivery throughout 2008.

The course has been designed to teach tactics which can be deployed to increase the safety of protected persons and protection teams in two (or three) vehicle transit, it was designed and developed during Northern Ireland's most volatile period primarily to increase the safety and ensure the secure and covert movement of Protected Persons through difficult and hostile areas.

Using the experience of Police Grade 1 Advanced Drivers, Close Protection Operatives and Defensive Drivers, who have operated on a daily basis with in a counter terrorism role for the past 26 years. These disciplines were brought together and developed to create the Protective Tactical Driving Course which can be easily adapted by our instructors for the provision of bespoke solutions in environments worldwide where the safety of the vehicle occupants or vehicles is paramount.

 

This highly effective and unrivalled course will teach candidates how to:

  • Ensure safe travel of the Protected Person and/or passengers
  • To pre-empt any form of attack
  • To discourage any form of attack
  • To be in a position to apply a reactive drill
  • To adopt correct vehicle positioning at Pick Up/Drop Off point

The course covers aspects such as:

  • The principles of safety and security
  • Observation
  • Positioning
  • Drivers ability
  • Vehicle capabilities (armored/soft skin)
  • Speed/timings
  • Road, traffic and weather conditions
  • Position / view
  • Signaling
  • Overtaking / lane changes
  • Freeways / motorways
  • Junctions

Assessments take place on day two when candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment. Full attendance is required in order for successful completion of the course.

If the student performs a dangerous maneuver placing himself his passengers or other road users at risk it would be recommended that the student repeat the course until the desired level of expertise is achieved.

Proof of previous driving qualifications may be required.
